The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is a beautiful 19th century building. The red-roofed complex was was built by the French during the French colonial period.
The yellow and white building incorporates a Gothic and Renaissance style. A statue of the Virgin Mary stands across the street from the Post Office's main entrance.
Visitors to the Saigon post office will find a large portrait of Ho Chi Minh hanging on the wall as well as two painted maps dating back to 1892. One map depicts the telegraphic lines in southeast Asia while the other is of Saigon and the surrounding area.
The Saigon Central Post Office is located across the street from Notre Dame Basilica, the city's historic cathedral.
